PT DAHANA conducted a “Talk Show and Site Inspection” activity at various operational sites from February 1 to February 21, 2025, to commemorate National Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Month. This event took place in several strategic locations, including Sumatra (Jsp. PT. BA and Karimun), Sulawesi (Jsp. CPM and Tonasa), Kalimantan (Jsp. MAM BBE, MHU, and Samarinda Warehouse), and Java (Jsp. SBI Narogong).
Demonstrating a commitment to fostering a work safety culture, PT DAHANA assembled a K3LH Occupational Health, Safety and Environment (OHSE) team led by Teja Sukmara, VP of the Energetic Material Center (EMC), and Shahibuddin Ma’ruf, Senior Production Manager of PT DAHANA. This team was responsible for conducting inspections and educating workers in the field about the importance of implementing OHS in every operational activity.
“Alhamdulillah, over the past three weeks, we have successfully visited numerous sites and engaged face-to-face with our employees to share insights and discuss the significance of OHS. Generally, our site colleagues comprehend OHS management system that the Company practices and comply with it,” stated Mr Sukmara at the DAHANA Campus in Subang on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
Mr Sukmara explained that during the talk show sessions, the team presented various materials aimed at increasing worker awareness of safety practices. A key focus was the concept of Total Safety Culture, emphasizing that safety is not only a company rule but a culture integrated into the daily lives of workers. DAHANA’s safety culture framework prioritizes awareness, basic safety principles, and intervention actions to foster a safe and productive work environment.
Additionally, the talk show addressed the negative impacts of unsafe behaviors in the workplace. The team reminded attendees that neglecting small potential hazards could create a domino effect leading to workplace accidents. Consequently, every individual in the work environment is responsible for ensuring their safety and that of their colleagues.
During the field inspections, the OHSE team conducted observations and risk analyses of various factors that could affect work safety. This included assessing the condition of the work environment, adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), and the readiness of personal protective equipment (PPE). The team also offered recommendations for improvements and outlined a hierarchy of hazard control based on risk levels to minimize potential risks.
In conclusion, Mr Sukmara and the team reiterated that safety is a collective responsibility. By fostering awareness and developing safe behavioral habits, a strong safety culture can be established, positively impacting work productivity without compromising the health and safety of employees. DAHANA is dedicated to further advancing its OHS program to create a safer and more sustainable work environment.
“We recognize that PT DAHANA is an explosives company that operates under extreme risks. Therefore, in the observance of National OHS Month, we are implementing various programs to ensure that OHS remains a primary concern for all employees, regardless of their location. We hope that the site inspection activities can strengthen the collective commitment of both employees and the company,” concluded Mr Sukmara.
