Students of Dikbangpes Bintara Yanmin Intelijen Polri (Indonesian police training for intelligence administration service) visited PT DAHANA in order to learn about the handling and types of commercial explosives. The group of students was well received by DAHANA’s SM Corporate Services DAHANA, Ogi Nugraha at the DAHANA Campus, Subang, West Java, on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
In his welcoming remarks, Mr Nugraha explained a brief history of DAHANA which was born from the Menang Project of the Indonesian Air Force. The name DAHANA is taken from Sanskrit which means ‘fire’. Previously, DAHANA had an office in Tasikmalaya, then moved to Subang for security reasons and expansion of operations.
“In its development, DAHANA then moved to Subang in 2021 occupying an area of 600 hectares. On this vast land, DAHANA has built various explosive facilities such as factories, warehouses, quality testing facilities, office areas, and public service buildings,” said Mr Nugraha.
Considering the important value and risks attached to the company, DAHANA area has been designated as a National Vital Object with a strict and multi-layered security system. DAHANA’s Energetic Material Center (EMC) area currently is home to complete explosive facilities in the ASEAN region.
In its operations, DAHANA offers Total Explosive Solutions which include explosives supply, drilling & blasting, loading & hauling, licensing, warehousing, handling, to the destruction of unused explosives. DAHANA operates in the general mining, quarry & construction, oil and gas, and military sectors.
“Thank God. This year, DAHANA has succeeded in adding another explosive facility, namely an ammonium nitrate factory which is a major step for the company to realize Indonesia’s explosives independence. Once again, we welcome all the Police students. Hopefully this visit can bring benefits,” concluded Mr Nugraha.
Meanwhile, Second Class Inspector Dian Rochmadi who represented the students said that visit was intended to support educational competency and increase insight and implementation of the theory that had known. Mr Rochmadi hoped that his students engage in the activities well.
“These fellow students come from Sabang to Merauke. Coincidentally they handle explosives licensing matters. It is our hope that the site visit for the field studies allows the students (students) to get introduced to the mechanism [such as] who can buy [explosives], and so on,” said Mr Rochmadi.
After listening to the presentation in class, 25 non-commissioned officers and the participating students had the opportunity to visit the EMC DAHANA area to see firsthand the production process to quality testing.
