PT DAHANA, a member of DEFEND ID Holding which operates in production high energy materials (Energetic Materials), has officially had its head-offices in Subang Regency since mid-2012. Previously, DAHANA had its head-offices in Tasikmalaya since 1966. Business expansion was one of the reasons for DAHANA’s move from Tasikmalaya to Subang.
This was revealed by PT DAHANA Senior Manager Legal & Corporate Communications Juli Jajuli at a Media Gathering event with Subang media crew at Mang Yeye Restaurant in Subang on March 26, 2024. Mr Jajuli pointed out that the Subang area is very strategic, considering the government’s big plan to make the Rebana area (Sumedang Regency, Majalengka, Cirebon, Subang, Indramayu, Kuningan, and Cirebon City) as industrial centers and sources of new economic growth.
“Thank God, PT DAHANA began to experience rapid development after moving from Tasikmalaya to Subang in 2012. “We have quite a large area of land from the former PTPN VIII, so we can build a new production facility in Subang,” said Mr Jajuli.
Before moving to Subang, PT DAHANA occupied land belonging to the Indonesian Air Force adjacent to the Wiriadinata Tasikmalaya Air Base. As an effort to develop the company’s business, PT DAHANA needed larger land to build new production and supporting facilities.
“In Subang we built the Energetic Material Center as an integrated area which consists of the most complete research, development and production center for high energy materials in Southeast Asia. The DAHANA Central Management Office (CAMPUS) was even constructed in the green building concept in accordance with the Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI) standards,” continued Mr Jajuli.
The construction of this EMC is the result of SOEs collaboration led by PT PP (Persero) as the appointed contractor together with PT Bina Karya (Persero) as supervisor and PT BNI (Persero) Tbk. and PT Telkom (Persero) Tbk. as other supporters. The EMC area is divided into several zones; it houses various production facilities including research and development centers, explosives factories including emulsion factories, detonator factories, DANFO factories, and Filling Bombs and is equipped with laboratories, training centers and other supporting facilities.
Owing to these complete facilities, DAHANA has been able to develop rapidly. In fact, Subang’s explosive products have become a regular supplier for overseas consumers, such as the export of emulsion cartridge products to Australia.
In addition to the factories, PT DAHANA has Bonded Logistics Center (PLB) facilities which have earned high trust from consumers, including consumers in the Oil and Gas sector. DAHANA’s PLB is a strategic location for the importation of explosives. Benefiting from the PLB, oil and gas and mining companies can save on their transportation and logistics costs and support industrial growth, especially the oil and gas sector.
“The savings are attributed to cutting costs during the process of transporting in and storing explosive raw materials from abroad before they are finally used by consumers,” Mr Jajuli said.
DAHANA’s work in Subang Regency have been beneficial. As part of the Defense Industry SOEs Holding, DAHANA is committed to moving forward with the community, especially in Subang. Through it Social and Environmental (SER) unit, DAHANA operates in the education, health, environment and improve the community’s economy by means of the concept of fostered partner MSEs.
“Thank God, we have developed a harmonious our relationship with the regional government and the community. Dahana absorbs local workers and many of the MSEs as its partners have succeeded in penetrating the global market,” concluded Mr Jajuli.
