The dream of having an Ammonium Nitrate Plant has long been harbored by PT DAHANA. Ammonium nitrate has strategic value in the explosives industry. Therefore, ownership of raw materials in the upstream explosives industry will increase DAHANA’s competitive advantage amidst increasingly tighter competition.

After a long wait, the Ammonium Nitrate Plant which was jointly constructed with Pupuk Kaltim was finally inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo on February 29, 2024 in Bontang, East Kalimantan. The Dream Comes true, that should be the right expression. Suhendra Yusuf RPN, Director of Technology & Development at PT DAHANA, who was also appointed as chairman of the committee for the inauguration of the Ammonium Nitrate Plant, expressed his gratitude.

“Thank God, the Ammonium Nitrate Plant has been inaugurated. We are grateful that President Joko Widodo is willing to inaugurate this Ammonium Nitrate Plant. It is an honor for us to have this factory inaugurated by the President,” said Mr Yusuf in Jakarta (06/03/24).

Mr Yusuf also felt relieved, that despite the short preparations, the factory inauguration event ran smoothly.

“The technical preparations made by the committee only took 6 days. This is amazing. We were able to complete it and the inauguration went well,” said Mr Yusuf.

Mr Yusuf admitted that many parties had supported the smooth running of this inauguration event, starting from the important role of the State Secretariat, the Ministry of SOEs, Bontang City Government, security forces from the Police and the Indonesia’s Armed Forces as well as the host partner PT Pupuk Kaltim and its subsidiaries.

“Thank you for your support. We are also honored by the presence of the Ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, including the Minister of SOEs, Minister of Investment/Head of Coordinating Board of Investment, Minister of Trade, Commander of Indonesia’s Armed Forces, Chair of the Presidential Advisory Council, Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense representing the Minister of Defense, and the Acting Governor of East Kalimantan,” said Mr Yusuf.

In conclusion, Mr Yusuf hoped that the presence of the Ammonium Nitrate Plant will bring abundant benefits, both to DAHANA and the Indonesian nation.

“Hopefully this Ammonium Nitrate Plant will further support efforts for independence in terms of explosives industry, reduce imports and save the country’s foreign exchange. For sure it will also support the economic growth of Bontang City,” concluded Mr Yusuf.
