Mining Engineering students from Universitas Bangka Belitung University conducted a field visit to PT DAHANA to get on-hand experience on implementation, exploration, and evaluation processes in mining companies through observation. The group of students was warmly welcomed by DAHANA’s Legal and Corporate Communications SM Juli Jajuli, at the DAHANA Campus, Subang, West Java, on Thursday, July 18, 2024.
In his remarks, Mr Jajuli briefly explained the profile of DAHANA, whose name is taken from Sanskrit meaning “fire”. DAHANA was established through the Menang Project initiated by the Indonesian Air Force, and is now part of the state-owned defense industry holding DEFEND ID.
“Welcome, all mining engineering students of Universitas Bangka-Belitung. It is an honor for us to be trusted as learning facility for fellow students. Hopefully this visit will help you get additional knowledge,” said Mr Jajuli.
Following the introduction, the students received a presentation on commercial explosives delivered by Commercial Product Research & Innovation Manager Widya Faradila Omegawati. Miss Omegawati talked about the various types of DAHANA commercial explosives that can be adjusted to the rock conditions in the field to get efficient and maximum blasting results.
DAHANA is widely known as the mecca of Indonesian explosives, with the most complete facilities in the Southeast Asia region. DAHANA offers various business lines such as general mining, quarrying & construction, oil and gas, and the military. DAHANA products have also been trusted by mining companies throughout Indonesia and even abroad.
Meanwhile, the Supervisor of Mining Engineering at Bangka Belitung University, Janiar Pitulima, said that students’ visit was carried out in order to fulfill the curriculum of the Mining Engineering Department. He also hoped that students can get full comprehension on blasting engineering through an understanding of blasting processes, blasting methods, explosive compositions and tools used during blasting activities.
“Greetings from our Head of Department. He expressed his gratitude for how PT DAHANA has helped our students’ activities a lot. Previously, some students had conducted industrial visits here, hopefully the Mining Engineering Department of Universitas Bangka Belitung can build a synergy with PT DAHANA in supporting our students’ activities,” said Mr Pitulima.
After receiving a speech and presentation of material on explosives, the visiting students had the opportunity to explore the Energetic Material Center area and see firsthand the explosives production process and quality testing process carried out by PT DAHANA.
