Oil & Gas Division Team of PT DAHANA (Persero) Balikpapan Area participated in a fire drill simulation in the Jobsite area offshore Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM). The activity was held at Tunu Tambora, Kutai Kertanegara, East Kalimantan on January 19, 2019.
Fire drill is a fire fighting simulation in order to make the crew prepared, alert, with no panic if fire actually occurs at any time. Additionally, the fire drill has also been regulated in Regulation of Ministry of Labor regarding “Fire Fighting Unit in the Workplace”.
According to Didik Dwi Cahyono, Customer Relations of Balikpapan’s Oil and Gas Division, the fire drill was carried out and coordinated by the HSE Team both from the AWB FIORE barge and Pertamina Hulu Mahakam. The event started with an emergency siren sign, followed by an appeal so that everyone at the barge immediately uses the life jacket and gathers at the designated master points.
“After that, the HSE team collected data in accordance with the manifest barge and delivered the rescue procedure. To ensure the safety and security of workers, this fire drill program is carried out regularly every three months,” Didik explained.
In addition, each individual is required to have a Basic Sea Survival certificate as evidenced by an ID that must be shown when going to work at offshore sites, including the DAHANA Balikpapan Oil & Gas Division team.
“It is expected that the fire drill will make every crew or worker in the FIORE AWB can implement an actual emergency and clearly knows what to do to prevent casualties,” said Didik Dwi Cahyono.
