The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) conducted a socialization session on the Prevention of Terrorist Radicalism and Strengthening National Insight and Love for the Country for DAHANA personnel. The session was led by Rahel, Head of the BNPT Victim Recovery Sub-Directorate. It took place in a hybrid format via Zoom and in-person at the DAHANA Campus in Subang, West Java, on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
Bayu Anggoro, Vice President of Human Capital Management at DAHANA, welcomed the collaboration between the DEFEND ID holding and BNPT. He emphasized that the socialization activity focused on preventing terrorism is a strategic initiative, particularly since DAHANA is a National Vital Object that contributes to national resilience.
“Given this strategic role, PT DAHANA is also vulnerable to potential threats, including radicalization and terrorism. Terrorism, which often arises from radical ideologies, can infiltrate various sectors, including vital industrial sectors like PT DAHANA. Therefore, it is essential for us to remain vigilant and enhance our understanding of how to prevent radicalization that could lead to acts of terrorism within our organization,” stated Mr Anggoro.
He further noted that radicalism and terrorism are significant threats to the security and peace of the nation. These issues not only disrupt social order but also jeopardize national unity and integrity. Hence, prevention is not solely the government’s responsibility but a shared duty among all members of society.
Mr Anggoro, through the socialization session, expressed his hope that all employees of PT DAHANA would gain a solid understanding of the signs of radicalization, the factors that trigger it, and the strategies for preventing it. He urged DAHANA personnel to foster tolerance, mutual respect, and a commitment to peace as fundamental pillars of community life.
“I hope this socialization event serves not only as an opportunity for knowledge acquisition but also as a starting point for each of us to take a more active role in preventing radicalization in our surroundings. We must not allow our differences to lead to violence; instead, we should utilize these differences to strengthen our unity and enhance national cohesion,” concluded Mr Anggoro.
In her presentation, Rahel highlighted the evolving strategies of terrorist groups, noting that they have begun targeting government officials and SOEs employees. She referenced a case involving a PT KAI employee who became a suspect in the ISIS network in 2023.
Rahel also outlined various prevention methods that PT DAHANA can implement to guard against infiltration by terrorist networks and emphasized the crucial role of the four pillars of nationality—Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, the Republic of Indonesia, and Bhineka Tunggal Ika— as unifying elements of Indonesian society.
