PT DAHANA recently held a “Goes To School” event to introduce students to the role of explosives in mining. Herry Sudaryanto, the General Mining Division I GM at DAHANA, delivered a presentation to the Mining Geology Engineering students of SMK (Vocational High School) Adi Sanggoro in Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.

During his presentation, Mr Sudaryanto shared a brief history of DAHANA, which began with the Indonesian Air Force’s Menang Project and has since developed into a leading Indonesian explosives company employing dual-use technology for both commercial and military purposes.

“Greetings to all students of Mining Geology Engineering of Adi Sanggoro. PT DAHANA is a state-owned explosives company recognized by practitioners and mining companies throughout Indonesia. Our products and services are used by over 100 companies across various mining sites in the country,” said Mr Sudaryanto.

Mr Sudaryanto explained that DAHANA independently produces explosives at factories located within the DAHANA Energetic Material Center (EMC) in Subang, West Java. Among DAHANA’s popular products mining companies utilize are Dabex, Dawagel, Dayagel, Dayadet, and various accessories.

To help reduce consumer production, DAHANA utilizes an on-site explosives production facility known as the On Site Plant (OSP). Additionally, the company operates a mobile manufacturing truck (MMT) that can produce explosives and insert them directly into blasting holes.

DAHANA’s explosives offer a wide variety of significant advantages that can be tailored to different rock conditions and blasting areas. DAHANA’s EMC products have been proven to be safe and effective, yielding satisfactory blasting results in open-pit mining, watery conditions, and underground mining.

  1. Farzan Ilham, a student at SMK Adi Sanggoro, expressed pride in having an explosives company developed independently by Indonesian professionals. He noted that DAHANA’s explosives are distinguished by their power, safety, and effective blasting outcomes.

“We are very proud to have our own explosives factory in Indonesia. We hope to visit DAHANA’s mining explosives facility in Subang one day. Thank you for introducing us to mining explosives, and we wish DAHANA continued success and growth,” he said.
