On June 12, 2025, during the Indo Defense 2024 Expo & Forum at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) Kemayoran, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia, Donny Ermawan Taufanto, officially presented certificates recognizing the supporting components of national defense to the Defense Industry SOE’s Holding, Defend ID.
These certificates serve as official recognition from the Ministry of Defense for the essential role that Defend ID entities play in strengthening the national defense ecosystem. The certificates were handed over directly to the directors of the five member companies of DEFEND ID namely PT Len Industri (Persero), PT Pindad, PT Dirgantara Indonesia, PT PAL Indonesia, and PT DAHANA.
In his remarks, Deputy Minister Taufanto highlighted the complex challenges and potential threats that arise from rapid technological advancements and global dynamics, emphasizing the importance of reinforcing the national defense system through continued innovation and the autonomy of the defense industry.
“We are required to strengthen the management of national resources for defense with the strategic goal of transforming our nation’s potential into a force that is ready to be mobilized,” stated Mr Taufanto.
The transformation aimed at enhancing national resources for defense is facilitated through various efforts. These include increasing awareness of national defense, fostering supporting components, forming reserve components, and enhancing primary components as mandated by Law 23 of 2019 concerning the Management of National Resources for National Defense.
The Indonesian government recognizes that a robust defense system is fundamental to creating national stability, which is essential for sustainable economic growth. One effort by the Ministry of Defense involves establishing five defense industries under DEFEND ID to strengthen the autonomy of the national defense sector and meet Indonesian Army’s needs for equipment.
The Ministry of Defense believes that developing DEFEND ID to enhance domestic production capacity for defense equipment will mark a significant milestone in ensuring national defense readiness and independence in facing future challenges.
“On behalf of the Ministry of Defense, I extend my highest appreciation for the dedication and contribution of the five state-owned defense industry companies that are part of DEFEND ID, which have now officially been designated as supporting components of national defense. We have high hopes for DEFEND ID to continue serving as a role model in supporting national defense operations and functions, as well as actively strengthening the main and reserve components to achieve a strong and modern national defense,” Mr Taufanto concluded.
Meanwhile, Hary Irmawan, President Director of PT DAHANA, expressed gratitude for the trust bestowed by the Ministry of Defense. He noted that this recognition serves as strong motivation for DAHANA to continue innovating in support of national defense, particularly in the field of explosives and blasting integration services.
“The presentation of this certificate acknowledges DAHANA’s concrete contributions to the national defense system. As a member of DEFEND ID with specialized tasks and functions in energetic materials, we are committed to ongoing innovation to support the strengthening of the national defense system,” Mr Irmawan stated.
