DAHANA’s Energetic Material Center (EMC) which is located in Subang, West Java spans more than 500 hectares. The land, which was formerly a plantation area owned by PTPN VIII, is now used as an office, factory and warehouse area and green space with lots of plants and trees.
With the size of the land they have, DAHANA established a Nursery Unit that is specifically prepared for taking care of EMC environment and becoming a “seedling station” for vegetation seeds to meet the needs for plants in DAHANA’s environment.
The nursery serves as a “seedling station” for vegetation seedlings to meet DAHANA’s environmental needs. With an area of about two hectares, the Nursery Unit operates a nursery and a temporary place for growing plants to make sure that plant seeds can quickly adapt to their natural conditions when it is time for planting. In the nursery there are several facilities for seeding such as a Seeding House and a place for managing polybags.
“Making DAHANA’s environment more beautiful and greener by implementing the Go Green program is the task of the Nursery Work Unit,” said Yuyun Agus Riyanto, Assistant Manager of Asset Management in charge of the Nursery Work Unit.
Yuyun continued, in her duties, the Nursery Working Unit nursed various kinds of plants such as hard trees and woods, including rare timber trees such as sandalwood, Agarwood, Siamese senna, flamboyant, Piptorus Incamus and and buddhi. In addition, there are also nurseries for ornamental plants and fruit trees which will be planted in several EMC areas such as offices and ring 1 areas.
In addition to plant nurseries, the Nursery also has animal husbandry facilities such as cows, goats, ducks and chickens. Under the complete facilities owned by the Nursery, it is hoped that the nursery can become a means of education in plant nurseries and animal husbandry cultivation.
“So, later on, those wishing to learn about plants and animal husbandry, don’t need to go far to find one. It is there at DAHANA’s Nursery,” said Yuyun. (rmt)
