PT DAHANA conducted an Emergency Response Simulation involving all employees at its Subang campus and the Emergency Response Team (ERT). This event took place on Friday, December 20, 2024, in Subang, West Java.
Teja Sukmara, the Acting VP of DAHANA’s Energetic Material Center, explained that the purpose of the emergency response simulation was to ensure that all employees understood the procedures the company has in place to address emergency situations. Additionally, it aimed to test and evaluate the company’s emergency response infrastructure and functions.
“We hope that through this drill, employees can grasp the necessary steps to take in case of an emergency. We also want to assess if the infrastructure and emergency response capabilities are functioning effectively to enable prompt action, thus preventing more severe consequences from the situation,” said Mr Sukmara.
PT DAHANA is an explosives company with inherent extreme risks. Despite being designated as a National Vital Object with multi-layered security measures, management continuously emphasizes the importance of security and safety for all employees, preparing them for potential adverse conditions through emergency response simulations.
In 2024, the emergency response simulation addressed two scenarios: a fire in the LB3 TPS area and a riot among the local community surrounding the PT DAHANA office. The fire was caused by a pile of garbage that ignited due to used oil spills and waste that had been improperly stored outside, exposed to the sun.
The fire prompted disturbances in the community, leading to a riot at the company’s premises as individuals attempted to force their way in to extinguish the fire. Despite attempts at mediation by the Corporate Secretariat, community members forcibly entered through nearby bushes.
During the simulation, the management implemented several changes and added new elements. As a result, DAHANA’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) successfully managed the situation by apprehending the intruders and controlling the riot within the designated response time.
“Based on the results of the simulation, the team achieved the emergency response goal within a timeframe that was below the golden time. However, we urge everyone to remain vigilant and adhere to the established procedures during emergencies. In 2025, we will conduct drill sessions for all employees to prepare them for handling emergency situations that may arise both at home and outside the workplace,” concluded Mr Sukmara.
