The event took place on Thursday, August 15, 2024.
In his statement, the Head of DAHANA SER Unit Eman Suherman said that environmental maintenance and social responsibility are the duties of the Ministry of State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) which are executed by DEFEND ID. This activity is also a form of support for community empowerment.
“Planting trees and providing harvesting aids can also be a learning moment for the participants of the BUMN Bakti Volunteers Batch VI – Subang that allows the passing of the spirit of solidarity and care for the environment to the next generations of SOEs people,” said Mr Suherman.
Meanwhile, a BUMN BAKTI Volunteer Batch VI SUBANG, Rachmat Hidayat from PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional, experienced a great moment. He recalled his experience in the activities he participated in during the first day where he had to work hard a farmer, climbing steep paths under the scorching sunlight and various other challenges.
“Planting clove seedlings is an activity that I have participated in for the first time. My friends and I were very enthusiastic about participating in every agenda set by the committee; from distributing hoes, walking along steep paths to the planting site, the planting process, to watering the plants,” said Mr Hidayat.
As a young generation of SOEs, Mr Hidayat hoped that planting clove seedlings can bring great benefits to the residents of Cibeusi Village. He is sure that residents can take good care of the clove trees to enjoy the harvest later. He also wished that tree planting can help reduce the impact of the climate crisis that has currently brought significant deteriorating impact in Indonesia.
Mr Hidayat hoped that similar activities can continue to run in a sustainable way with good collaboration among companies and residents that can provide an example on how to be actively responding to social and environmental problems for the sake of sustainable life.
“My deepest gratitude to DEFEND ID, namely Len, Pindad, and DAHANA for initiating this very useful program. I am sure that this program has an extraordinary impact on participants, and brings good things to the beneficiary residents. Hopefully we can always work together to realize the New Archipelago, Advanced Indonesia,” concluded Mr Hidayat.
