PT DAHANA (Persero) Fire Fighting Team won the title of the Second Best Team in the Fire Rescue category out of the ten teams participating in the Semen Padang Mine Rescue Challenge (MRC) event organized by PT Semen Padang (Persero) in observation of Occupational Health and Safety (K3) National and Quality Month of 2020, in Padang, from February 3 through 7, 2020.

According to Didin Wahyudin, before making its way to the competition in Padang, the DAHANA fire department had made various necessary preparations such as joint-training with the Subang District Fire Service from 27 through 31, 2020, concentrating on physical training, techniques, and strategies as required in the competition.

“Apart from that, the training was also intended to gain better response time, and accurate conduct,” Didin explained.

PT DAHANA (Persero) attempted other preparations for meeting individual requirements and individual equipment, such as fire extinguishers, fire trucks, safety shoes, safety vests, safety gloves, safety goggles, safety helmets, elbow pads, and knee pads. In addition to the competition, this preparation serves as DAHANA’s determination in improving practices of the Work Health and Safety of its employees.

“Apart from the effort for strengthening friendship with companies working in collaboration with Dahana, the team who was sent to the competition could add their experience and knowledge about rescue which can be passed on to the fellow firemen at DAHANA. But the most important thing was that the team had to give the best effort as to so it contribute to PT DAHANA (Persero)’s pride and reputation,”Didin added.

DAHANA’s Fire Fighting Team consisting of Wanwan Hernawan, Irman, Edi Sudrajat, Wawan Setiawan, Lukman Hakim, and Sunandar succeeded in making the explosive company proud by with the award of the Second Best Team. Didin Wahyudin, DAHANA’s Fire Fighting Team Coach also hoped his team would be able to take part in other more challenging events.

“Being the runner up team, it is our hope it will add to customer’s trust to DAHANA especially in term of safety,” said Didin.

Malendra Wahyu Dwiputra, who accompanied the fire fighting team in Padang also expressed his wish to Dfile that the DAHANA rescue team continued to train regularly and with a routine training schedule.

“Don’t forget to update your competence by inviting experienced and certified instructors such as BASARNAS. It is also necessary to update rescue equipment and supplies from DAHANA,” said Melandra. (yz)
