The Social and Environmental Responsibility (SER) Unit of PT DAHANA has provided support for the construction of an arboretum at SMPN 4 Subang, contributing to the Adiwiyata (Green) School program. This assistance was formally handed over by the Head of SER Unit, Eman Suherman, to school representatives, including Endang Muhammad of SMPN (State Junior High School) 4 Subang, West Java, on January 30, 2025.
Mr. Muhammad expressed that collaboration with a company like PT DAHANA is crucial for the development of education and the environment. He hoped that PT DAHANA’s efforts can serve as a model for other companies, encouraging advancements in Indonesian education.
“On behalf of the school, we extend our deepest gratitude. We hope PT DAHANA continues to grow, not only in Indonesia but globally. This assistance is invaluable for us, especially for our provincial Adiwiyata School program and the research and education needs of our students,” said Mr Muhammad.
An arboretum is a designated area for planting, maintaining, and studying various types of trees and woody plants. Typically used for conservation, research, and environmental education, it provides an ideal setting for students to learn about ecosystems, biodiversity, and the importance of reforestation. In the context of Adiwiyata Schools, establishing an arboretum fosters a greener and more sustainable learning environment.
The Arboretum at SMPN 4 Subang received a variety of seedlings from DAHANA, including ornamental plants and pucuk merah (Syzygium myrtifolium) seedlings. The school also received rare fruit plants such as matoa (Fijian longan), duwet (or Majalengka grapes), sari kaya (custard apple), Dutch sapodilla, and Brazilian grapes. Additionally, PT DAHANA supported the cultivation of family medicinal plants (TOGA) by providing ginger, galangal, surawung (sweet basil), fragrant pandanus, lemongrass, seureuh (piper betel), black turmeric, and vegetable turmeric seedlings. In the food crop category, the school received eggplant, chili, and tomato seedlings.
In his speech, Eman Suherman emphasized that the assistance provided by his company reflects DAHANA’s commitment to the sustainability of education and the surrounding environment. He hopes this initiative will not only create opportunities for research and learning but also promote environmental sustainability in Subang.
“In addition to supporting education, this assistance is part of our company’s ongoing commitment to environmental conservation that has been upheld for several decades. We ask for your support and prayers that PT DAHANA can continue to progress, so that more beneficiaries can enjoy the advantages of DAHANA’s TJSL efforts,” Mr Suherman expressed.
