DAHANA, in collaboration with the Subang District Health Office, held a socialization event focused on the risks and vulnerabilities of adolescents and young people regarding HIV transmission. This event, led by Suwata Watathika, took place on Monday, January 20, 2025, for students of Cibogo Vocational School 1 at the DAHANA Classroom in Subang, West Java.
Suwata Watathika highlighted that the HIV-AIDS rate in Subang has been rising, particularly among the 15-24 age group. Several contributing factors include unsafe sexual behavior, a lack of knowledge about HIV, and drug use. Furthermore, discrimination against children and adolescents affected by HIV exacerbates the situation.
“So far, we have only viewed young people as recipients of services. However, they possess significant potential to collaborate and help address the HIV-AIDS issue among teenagers. This can be achieved by treating survivors equally, ensuring fair access to HIV-AIDS tests, and increasing shared knowledge about HIV-AIDS,” Mr Watathika said.
Teja Sukmara, Acting Vice President of DAHANA’s Energetic Material Center, expressed support for collaborative efforts like this socialization on HIV-AIDS involving local youth. DAHANA aims for this initiative to enhance the community’s well-being, particularly in the early mitigation of HIV-AIDS.
In addition to the socialization event, DAHANA organized a blood donation drive for Subang employees at the DAHANA Training Building. Teja extended his gratitude to DAHANA employees for their willingness to donate blood for various community needs in Subang.
DAHANA is committed to progress and development alongside the community in various areas, including health, economic development, the environment, and education. The Company hopes that the surrounding community will enjoy the support it provides.
“As we commemorate the national OSH month, let us collectively make various events successful to raise awareness about healthy and safe living, both at home and in the community. Once again, I would like to thank everyone involved in today’s activities,” Mr Sukmara concluded.
