Acting VP of Energetic Material Center (EMC) PT DAHANA Teja Sukmara spoke in a sharing session at the Subang State Polytechnic (Polsub) Expo 2024. The activity under the theme of “Vocational Readiness to Face Industrialization in Subang Regency” was held at the Polsub Argoindustri Building, Subang, West Java, on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. The event was also attended by Dr. Drs. Imran M.Si., Acting Regent of Subang.

In his presentation, Mr Sukma introduced that DAHANA is currently part of the DEFEND.ID cluster as one of the government’s strategic steps in building the independence of the defense industry. To realize the efforts for building independence, the Company is currently intensively preparing human resources capable of supporting the growth of the domestic defense industry. In this case, DAHANA also wished to realize a sustainable business and therefore the Company’s existence should have a positive impact on the environment and the country.

“In 2022 DAHANA became member of the Indonesian SOE’s defense industry holding DEFEND ID to be part for realizing the independence of the national defense industry,” said Mr Sukmara.

Mr Sukmara also appreciated the activities held by the Subang State Polytechnic. He said that the practitioners and industry players needs to be involved in compiling a curriculum and certified training as a student vocational program in hoping that when they graduate later they will be human resources products that are ready to work with special applied skills much required by the industry. This is in line with the Subang government’s plan to build a special economic zone as a future industrial center.

As the Indonesian explosives mecca company, DAHANA itself requires qualified graduate talents from mining engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, to industrial engineering, as well as management and financial disciplines. In addition to reliable abilities on the academic side, the industrial world also requires human resources capable of demonstrating integrity, high dedication, and ability to compete and to be resilient.

Mr Sukmawara wished that Subang Polytechnic will become a vocational institution for the younger generation who can later take important positions in various industries. To be one a campus that produces the best cadres of the nation with a professional, innovative and visionary spirit to ensure that industrial downstreaming in the Subang area continues to grow rapidly which can ultimately create many jobs and increase the community’s economy.

“In addition to academic abilities, mental education is the most important aspect, such as being able to become a leader, upholding integrity, understanding the concept of excellent service, and being sensitive to advances in information technology. Educational institutions must build non-academic student activity units, because lessons on soft skill aspects can only be obtained through direct experience in campus organizational interactions,” concluded Mr Sukmara.
