PT DAHANA’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (SER) Unit delivered aid to the earthquake-affected community in Kertasari District, Bandung Regency. The aid was delivered through the Bandung Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency, on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. Also present was the Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs, Syaifullah Yusuf.
DAHANA SER unit chairman Eman Suherman said that disaster aid is a form of rapid response by the companies that are members of the DEFEND Group to emergency situations. The aid also serves as a form of the Company’s commitment to contribute to easing the burden on communities affected by disasters.
“DAHANA is always committed and consistently present to help ease the burden faced by communities affected by disasters. Hopefully, with the help of the DEFEND ID Group, the community can quickly recover from difficult times, and have more enthusiasm to rise and resume normal life after the earthquake,” said Mr Suherman.
The Board for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMCG) in its release stated that a tectonic earthquake had occurred on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 09.41 WIB in the Kertasari area, Bandung Regency. The earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 originated from a new fault shift, namely the Kertasari fault. BMCG also noted that there were 34 aftershocks following the major earthquake in the Kertasari area.
Meanwhile, in separate moment, the Bandung Regency Emergency Response Offuce stated that there 11,682 families or 45,325 people were affected by the Kertasari earthquake. They spread across the Kertasari, Pangalengan, Ibun, Pacet, Ciparay, Arjasari, Pameungpeuk, Banjaran, and Cimaung Districts.
From the data collection of the Bandung Regency Emergency Response Office released on Tuesday (24/9), as many as 6,163 houses were affected by the earthquake, with 784 severely damaged, 987 moderately damaged and 4,392 lightly damaged. In addition, 91 educational facilities, 96 places of worship, 12 health facilities, 27 public facilities were also affected by the earthquake.
Beny Sonjaya, Head of Emergency and Logistics Division of the Bandung Regency Emergency Report, West Java, who received assistance from the DEFEND ID Group (PT Len Industri, PT DAHANA, PT SEI and PT Len IOT) expressed his gratitude for the assistance provided. He said that the assistance means a lot to the community who are trying to recover from the earthquake disaster.
“We would like to thank the DEFEND ID Group for this assistance, hopefully the assistance provided can ease the burden on the victims,” said Mr Sonjaya.
