The Social and Environmental Responsibility (SER) Unit, in collaboration with the DAHANA Bikers Community (Kombi), delivered aid to the casualties of the recent flash flood in Sukabumi Regency. The aid was directly handed over by Eman Suherman, Head of DAHANA’s SER Unit, to Muktar, the Head of Sangrawayang Village, at the Village Office in Sangrawayang, Sukabumi, on Saturday, November 7, 2024.
Mr Syaifuddin, DAHANA’s President Director, stated that this assistance from PT DAHANA was a rapid response to the disaster situation, reflecting the company’s commitment to its tagline, “Service the Nation Better,” as well as an effort to ease the hardships faced by the victims. He expressed hope for a swift recovery for the affected community.
“The DAHANA family conveys its deepest condolences to the victims of the Sukabumi flash flood,” said Mr Syaifuddin. “We hope that the deceased find peace in the sight of Allah SWT, that the missing are reunited with their families soon, and that those who were evacuated can quickly return to their normal lives.”
According to the Sukabumi Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), as of Saturday, December 7, the number of affected areas increased from 34 sub-districts to 39. The report highlighted 137 landslide locations, 76 flood points, 21 areas affected by strong winds, and 83 points of landslide disasters. These events were triggered by moderate to heavy rains that had been affecting Sukabumi since Wednesday, December 4.
The number of affected residents reached 3,153 families, or 4,892 individuals. Of these, 2,859 were evacuated to safer locations. The disaster caused damage to 1,254 houses, with 1,090 houses submerged in floodwaters. Furthermore, 34 roads were rendered impassable, and 79 public facilities, including bridges, water channels, places of worship, and schools, were impacted.
Mr Suherman stated that the SER and Kombi DAHANA teams commenced their journey from Subang on Saturday morning, carrying aid consisting of basic necessities, ready-to-eat meals, children’s milk, diapers, and toiletries. These items were destined for areas severely affected around Pelabuhanratu, Sukabumi.
“Alhamdulillah, the team safely arrived at Sangrawayang Village, Pelabuhanratu, Sukabumi. We promptly handed over the aid to the Village Head for distribution to the community affected by the flash floods and landslides in Sukabumi. We hope that together we can remain resilient in the face of this disaster,” Mr Suherman said.
