PT DAHANA handed over 1000 plant seedlings to the Tangkalna Lestari Forest Farmer Group (KTH) and the West Java Province Forestry Service Branch (CDK) II. The tree planting was in commemoration of World Environment Day and was held at the DAHANA Water Treatment Plant (WTP) which is also part of the Cipunagara River Watershed (DAS) near the Sadawarna Dam, Subang, Friday, June 28, 2024.
In his remarks, PT DAHANA’s Senior Production Manager Moch. Surya Nugraha said that DAHANA’s tree planting program is a manifestation of the company’s commitment to the environment as a priceless legacy for future generations.
“Social and Environmental Responsibility programs such as tree planting are a form of implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in hoping that every tree planted today can be of benefits to future generations. This is also a step towards realization of the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045,” said Mr Nugraha.
In addition to the distribution and planting of trees, DAHANA’s commemoration of World Environment was also packed with environmental counseling by the Eman Suparman, Analyst of Forest and Land Rehabilitation CDK II West Java Province. Eman explained the importance of planting trees, as well as protecting and preserving the environment amidst the climate crisis that is hitting the world.
DAHANA also worked in collaboration with the younger generation from SMKN 2 Subang and SMKN Cibogo. The collaboration was intended to increase the awareness of the younger generation towards the environment, to make sure that in the future the younger generation can continue to innovate and utilize nature while maintaining ethics and care for the environment.
“We deliberately invited representatives from SMKN 2 Subang and SMKN Cibogo to be involved in planting trees in hoping that the this activity also has a greater impact, namely increasing awareness of the younger generation on the importance of planting trees and preserving the environment. Hopefully this activity can provide meaning for all those involved,” Mr Suparman hoped.
This program demonstrated DAHANA’s seriousness to green commitment. As is known, the office area of the Indonesian explosives mecca company has a Green Building Level Platinum certificate. DAHANA also has green product innovations with waste utilization, along with SER performance in doing various tree planting activities in various places, especially in Subang Regency.
