PT DAHANA organized Stunting Counseling and Additional Food Provision for pregnant women and toddlers around the Company. This activity was part of the 2024 DAHANA SER Week program in order to commemorate the Company’s 58th anniversary which held at Bale DAHANA, Subang, West Java, on Thursday, October 17, 2024.
Arum Manggarsari, chairwoman of DAHANA’s Tatali Wargi, said that the Company has the commitment to progress and develop together with the community and eradicating stunting is one of the prerequisites and it will be difficult for the community to develop in the absence of good nutrition.
“As we know, stunting is the root of slow productivity. This problem can also lead the community to long-term health problems and slow cognitive development of stunting sufferers. Therefore, this problem must be resolved collaboratively, so that Indonesia can achieve the ideals of Indonesia Emas 2045,” said Mrs Manggarsari.
Quoting the Ministry of Health’s website, the stunting rate in Indonesia is still quite high, namely 21.6% based on the results of the 2022 Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI). The government is targeting that by 2024 the stunting rate can be reduced to below 14%. The data also shows that the risk of stunting is very high, especially due to the failure of Complementary Food for Breast Milk (MP-ASI) from the age of 6 months.
Meanwhile, the Head of DAHANA SER unit Eman Suherman reported that issues of stunting eradication is one of the highest priorities of the Company’s SER program. In recent years, DAHANA has been actively campaigning, providing stunting education and additional food to the community.
In the view of DAHANA’s SER, stunting is a serious problem that must be addressed immediately. It has the potential for increased medical care costs in the future. Stunting also has the potential to extend the economic gap due to lack of competitiveness, and can perpetuate the cycle of poverty.
“Thank you to the parties who have collaborated today. As a company operating in Subang Regency, this area is our priority in realizing zero stunting. Hopefully, awareness of stunting can be spread, and more institutions or companies will be moved to work together to overcome this problem,” said Mr Suherman.
For the stunting eradication program, DAHANA collaborates with the UPTD Cibogo Subang Health Center, Sadawarna Posyandu cadres and Sumur Barang. In addition, on the fourth day of the 2024 TJSL Week, DAHANA also held prolanis gymnastics for the community, and blood donations in collaboration with the Indonesia Red Cross, attended by employees cadres.
