PT DAHANA has demonstrated its commitment to supporting flood casualties in Bekasi by providing emergency response assistance. Eman Suherman, Head of DAHANA’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (SER) unit, handed over the aid to Helen, Head of the Storage and Logistics Sub-Division of Bekasi’s Board of Disaster Mitigation, on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.

Mohamad Nur Sodiq, DAHANA’s Director of Finance, Risk Management, and Human Resources, emphasized the company’s deep concern for the flood casualties in Bekasi. He urged all DAHANA employees to assist and pray for those affected by the disaster.

“In this holy month of Ramadan, we are tested in our patience and our commitment to helping others, particularly our fellow citizens facing flood disasters. We invite all DAHANA employees to contribute according to their abilities and to pray for the affected individuals,” Mr Sodiq stated in Jakarta on March 5, 2025.

Mr Sodiq explained that this aid is part of DAHANA’s corporate social responsibility, aimed at supporting those in distress. The aid is planned for residents affected in Pondok Gede Permai, Jatiasih District, Bekasi City, West Java.

“As a state-owned enterprise, DAHANA is dedicated to supporting communities experiencing disasters, including the people of Bekasi who are currently facing flooding. We hope this assistance can alleviate some of the burdens on the victims, especially during this month of Ramadan. We also pray for the strength of the victims as they recover from this disaster,” Mr Sodiq added.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency reported that the flooding in Bekasi resulted from a combination of intense local rainfall and water discharge from upstream sources. Extreme rainfall was recorded at 232 mm in Katulampa, while the Bekasi area experienced daily rainfall between 94 mm and 141 mm.

The recent floods in Bekasi have caused significant challenges for many residents, including shortages of food and other essential supplies. According to the latest reports, the flooding has affected 25 sub-districts across 12 districts, impacting approximately 18,738 households or 61,233 individuals. Several affected areas have also faced power outages, and public facilities, such as hospitals, had to evacuate patients due to water inundating the buildings.

Ms Helen expressed her gratitude for the assistance provided. “On behalf of the community, we extend our heartfelt thanks to PT DAHANA for its support to the flood victims in Bekasi. This aid is incredibly meaningful to those in need,” she stated.
