After successfully delivering assistance to flood and landslide victims in Sukabumi, specifically in the Pelabuhanratu area near the PT GMB Gold Mining site—an operation under the General Mining Division of PT DAHANA—the SER Team and the DAHANA Bikers Community (Kombi) proceeded to provide 700 seedlings of hard plants and fruit trees to the residents of Cisokan, Sukaresmi Village, in the Rongga District of West Bandung Regency.
The seedlings were handed over by Unang Harun, the Operations Manager (PJO) of the Upper Cisokan Hydroelectric Power Plant Project, to the Head of the Sukaresmi Harun Forest Village Community Institution and the CDW-JV Environmental Division representative, Aditya Nugroho, on Sunday, December 8, 2024.
DAHANA Operations Director Yusep Nugraha emphasized that the delivery of these seedlings demonstrates the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability and serves as a legacy for future generations. He expressed hope that this assistance will effectively enhance the environment and improve the livelihoods of the community.
“Following our assistance to residents affected by the Sukabumi flood yesterday, today the TJSL Team and Kombi DAHANA shifted focus to the Upper Cisokan Hydroelectric Power Plant Project Site to provide plant seeds. We hope this can contribute to environmental improvement and boost the local economy,” Mr Nugraha remarked.
These 700 seedlings serve as part of a reforestation effort in the Bukit Nangkod Upper Dam area of the Upper Cisokan Hydroelectric Power Plant. Mr Nugraha also hoped that these plants would help mitigate the potential for landslides at the Upper Cisokan Hydroelectric Power Plant project site, given that DAHANA has also played a role in its construction.
Eman Suherman, Head of Social and Environmental Responsibility (SER) Unit of DAHANA, added that the Company’s commitment to sustainability is evident in various initiatives, including the construction of a campus featuring a Green Building certification, the development of green explosives products, and environmental SER programs.
For DAHANA’s SER team, the distribution of plant seedlings signifies the Company’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, Goal 13: Climate Action, and Goal 15: Life on Land, which focuses on protecting, restoring, and promoting sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems.
“DAHANA’s dedication to environmental sustainability has been reflected since the construction of our head office. We are actively involved in numerous tree planting initiatives, both in Subang and throughout West Java, including planting mangroves along the north coast of Subang,” concluded Mr Suherman.
