DAHANA delivered reliefs to the flood and landslide casualties in south West Java, in four villages in the district of Pameungpeuk in Garut regency. The relief was handed over by Dahana’s Community Partnership and Development team represented by Cecep Nugraha to each of the village representative on Friday 16 October 2020.
The logistic packages supplied by Dahana consisted of staple foods, fast food, biscuits, toiletries, medicines and folding mattresses for people in four villages namely Lingga Manik village, Sinarbakti village, Najaten village and Paas village. The four villages were badly damaged and needed swift help, along with Wangunsari Bantarkalong village in Regency of Tasikmalaya.
The natural disaster had started with rain storms that attacked all over Java. The extreme weather which was part of La Nina wave caused overflow of water in the river basin in South of Java. In the three districts, 238 households or if 2,779 household or 9,177 were affected. 136 houses were badly damaged, 197 mildly damaged, 616 lightly damaged and another 2,180 houses were inundated.
The flood also caused some damages to public facilities that included 25 praying houses, 10 healthcare facilities,12 educational facilities (level of damage is under investigation, 18 bridges and 12 points on roads and 19 points in the retaining walls.
Dahana’s Community Development and Partnership Program, Eman Suherman explained that the supply of relief was a form of assistance to ease the suffering of Garut-Tasik flood. Eman hoped that the people would recover soon with no further flood attack. The relief was happily received by the people in effect.
