PT DAHANA’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (SER) Unit has provided assistance in the form of waste management facilities to the community of Sadawarna Village. This assistance was handed over by the Head of TDAHANA SER Unit, Eman Suherman, to representatives of the Karang Taruna “Karya Muda” in Sadawarna Village, Cibogo District, Subang Regency, on Thursday, December 19, 2024.
In his remarks, Mr Suherman emphasized that PT DAHANA is committed to implementing the environmental pillar of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He added that the provision of cleaning facilities aligns with the SER Clean Village Program.
“We want to engage the community in addressing the issue of pollution and waste in Subang Regency, particularly in the Sadawarna Village area, by encouraging waste sorting starting from home. This initiative also serves as a campaign to raise awareness about the importance of clean and healthy living for a better future,” said Mr Sujerman
DAHANA’s SEE recognizes that public awareness regarding waste management in Indonesia is still insufficient. Waste management processes remain fragmented, with a lack of integration between the community and environmental stakeholders. Often, waste is carelessly discarded, posing a potential health risk to the community.
By collaborating with Karang Taruna “Karya Muda” in Sadawarna Village on waste management efforts, Mr Suherman hoped to effectively address the waste challenges in the company’s surrounding areas. He also anticipates stronger integration with the Environmental Management Service for waste management in Sadawarna Village.
Mr Suhermen conveyed that DAHANA’S SER Unit unit has devised a program that focuses on waste management to enhance its integration and measurability, ultimately resulting in improved environmental and health benefits for the community.
“DAHANA is deeply committed to fostering a sustainable environment, exemplified by the construction of a campus with a green building certification, the development of eco-friendly products, responsible forest management, and active participation in tree-planting initiatives. However, the company aims to go further and has tasked the SER with addressing the critical waste management issue,” Mr Suherman concluded.
