PT DAHANA held the 2023 Heroes Day commemoration ceremony. The Company’s Director of Technology and Development Suhendra Yusuf RPN led the ceremony serving as the ceremony inspector on Friday 10 November 2023, at the DAHANA Football Field in Subang, West Java.

In his ceremonial address, Mr Yusuf delivered the message of the Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini on the occasion of Heroes Day 2023. The Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs emphasized the spirit of continuing the ideals of heroes by fighting ignorance and poverty which still persist in Indonesia.

“The 78th Heroes Day is commemorated under the theme of Heroic Spirit for the Nation’s Future in Fighting Poverty and Ignorance. This theme is raised through deep reflection in response to the ever increasing modern challenges, considering that we are a large market, blessed with so many extraordinary natural resources such as fertile soil, abundant sea products, and earth containing rich minerals,” said Mr Yusuf.

Not long after Sukarno-Hatta proclaimed the independence of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17 1945, the allied countries tried to re-annex Indonesia by sending troops equipped with war equipment to seize the independence of the Indonesian nation.

However, on November 10, 1945, Indonesian heroes bravely buried the imperialist’s dreams by turning Surabaya hell for the allied countries led by the Britain. Armed with a high fighting spirit and a well-thought-out strategy, the Indonesian people managed to defend the newly founded Republic.

Mr Yusuf continued mentioning the challenges and threats currently faced by the Indonesian nation, such as poverty and ignorance must be faced bravely like the fighting spirit of the heroes in the battle of 10 November 1945 in Surabaya. This spirit is also what will bring this nation together to refuse defeats and not to give up.

“Together we will build businesses and a people’s economy that will make Indonesia grow into a more advanced, more prosperous country. Happy Heroes Day 2023. Let us pray for the heroes who have fallen before us,” concluded Mr Yusuf.
