In order to get some on-hand knowledge on the management of explosives and underground mine blasting, the delegates of PT Antam Tbk visited DAHANA’s Center for High Energy Materials (EMC). The visit was made on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at the DAHANA Central Management Office, Subang, West Java.
In his remarks, DAHANA’s VP for Energetic Material Center Benny Gunawan said Antam’s visit brought nostalgia of its own. DAHANA and Antam have been working together for a long time. Employees of both the companies are familiar to each other. Mr Gunawan also explained that DAHANA currently has its own Elemented Detonator Factory located in ring 1 of EMC.
“Antam has been one of our long-standing partners. This makes us even more committed to improving the performance of our explosives products. DAHANA currently has a new facility, namely the Elemented Detonator Factory. Hopefully, the synergy between SOEs will grow and become stronger, in the future our cooperation will be even greater for Indonesia,” said Mr Gunawan.
Mr Gunawan also added that the Elemented Detonator Factory was established to realize the independence of national explosives, both in the commercial and military explosive fields, as mandated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia during the inauguration of the Elemented Detonator Factory held in the series of inauguration of Holding DEFEND ID, in Surabaya on April 20, 2022.
The independence of national explosives through DAHANA’s Elemented Detonator Factory, which was just completed in December 2021, has already been showcased through its related capabilities. With the presence of the Elemented Detonator factory, DAHANA is able to increase the Domestic Content Level (TKDN) by up to 50%.
Apart from that, the presence of Elemented Detonator factory can also reduce imports and save the country’s foreign exchange up to US$6 million or equivalent to Rp. 87 billion per year, as well as increasing the value of technological mastery and independence of detonator explosives to meet the domestic needs from 35 percent to 80 percent.
Following the presentation on explosives from the DAHANA Energetic Material Center team, Antam’s representatives had the opportunity to visit explosives factories located in ring 1 of the DAHANA Campus.
“Even though we have been using explosives for 27 years, we are still curious about the factory. Thank you for the opportunity and the very good reception. I hope this is useful and has knowledge,” said Antam’s representative Suparjo.
