A total of 112 students and lecturers from the Mining Engineering Department of UNiversitas Negeri Padang (UNP) participated in a field study at the Dahana campus in Subang, West Java, on Thursday, November 13, 2025. The visit, led by lecturer Fariz Aditya, S.T., M.T., was warmly welcomed by the management of Dahana.
In her remarks, Widya Faradila Omega, a representative of Dahana management, explained that PT Dahana is a state-owned enterprise engaged in Southeast Asia’s largest high-energy materials industry.
“Welcome to the PT Dahana Campus,” Ms Omega stated. “Our Campus is an abbreviation for Central Management Office, but philosophically, we share the same spirit as a primary center for education, research, and the development of high-energy materials. This demonstrates that our company does not serve only a hub for high-energy materials but also contributes as a learning organization.”
Dahana’s business lines include the manufacturing of explosives, drilling and blasting services, defense-related services, and other related activities. The company’s operations are divided into general mining, quarrying and construction, oil and gas, and military sectors.
Most production and development processes take place at the Energetic Material Center (EMC) in Subang, West Java. This modern, integrated explosives industrial park is equipped with state-of-the-art production facilities, testing laboratories, storage bunkers, and distribution infrastructure that adhere to high safety standards.
Dahana’s flagship products in the commercial sector include DANFO, Dayagel (cartridge explosives), DABEX (emulsion explosives), Dayaprime (booster), Dayadet (non-electric detonator), and others. In the military sector, Dahana produces P Series Bombs, Danfour defense rockets, and rocket launch vehicles, among others.
The trust in Dahana’s services and products has been affirmed through various National Strategic Projects (PSN) and across the mining sector throughout Indonesia. Additionally, Dahana’s products have gained popularity with mining businesses in Australia, which regularly import emulsion cartridges from the EMC.
During the visit, Fariz Aditya, S.T., M.T., expressed his appreciation for the collaboration with PT Dahana. He emphasized that this field lecture presented an invaluable opportunity for UNP Mining Engineering students to deepen their understanding of explosives technology relevant to industry needs.
“On behalf of Padang State University, we extend our deepest gratitude to all the staff at PT Dahana for their warm welcome and excellent facilities. We were impressed by the complexity and technological advancements at the Energetic Materials Center. We hope this hands-on experience will inspire innovation and professionalism among our students,” concluded Mr Aditya.
