PT Dahana cwent on with its Social and Environmental Responsibility (SER) Week 2025 series by hosting a Sundanese storytelling competition for elementary school students across Subang Regency. The event, held at Bale Dahana on Thursday, October 2, 2025, featured the theme “sasatoan,” which means fables, as part of the company’s efforts to preserve the Sundanese language and culture among the younger generation.
The event was inaugurated by PT Dahana’s SER Manager, Ismail Kurbani. In his opening remarks, Ismail emphasized that the storytelling competition is a tangible expression of the company’s commitment to supporting the preservation of regional culture.
“We are organizing this Sundanese storytelling competition to nurture a love for local culture in children. As a company that was born and developed in Subang, Dahana aims to ensure that Sundanese cultural values are maintained amidst globalization,” said Mr Kurbani.
The storytelling competition was divided into two categories: boys and girls. Participants showcased their creativity by reciting fables filled with moral messages, utilizing the expressions and intonations typical of Sundanese folklore. The enthusiasm was palpable among the participants, as well as the accompanying teachers and parents.
In addition to serving as a platform for cultural preservation, this activity was part of PT Dahana’s 59th anniversary celebration. As a state-owned enterprise (SOEs) affiliated with DEFEND ID and operating in the explosives industry for general mining, oil and gas, quarries, and military defense, Dahana consistently contributes not only to the strategic industrial sector but also to the social and cultural aspects of the community.
Through this storytelling competition, Dahana hoped to instil a sense of pride in local culture and inspire children in Subang to deepen their appreciation for the Sundanese language and heritage, which is a legacy from their ancestors.
