PT DAHANA is actively participating in a movement to plant mangrove trees alongside the Subang Regent to tackle climate change in the northern coastal regions of Subang Regency. The Head of Social and Environmental Responsibility (SER) unit at DAHANA led a tree-planting initiative in Mayangan Village, Legonkulon, Subang, on Friday, March 14, 2025.

In his speech, Subang Regent Reynaldy Putra Andita urged all residents to unite in confronting the climate crisis, particularly by planting, nurturing, and maintaining mangrove trees. He emphasized that these trees serve as living barriers with numerous benefits for the community.

“This mangrove initiative can be a win-win solution. Not only do they protect the environment, but they also enhance the local economy through the tourism sector,” stated the Regent, commonly known as Kang Rey.

Mangrove forests thrive in tidal zones, such as protected beaches, lagoons, and river estuaries. They experience flooding during high tide and emerge during low tide, featuring plants that can withstand high salinity conditions.

The benefits of mangrove forests are both physical and ecological, as well as economic. Physically, they protect against abrasion, seawater intrusion, and reduce storm impacts and carbon emissions. Ecologically, these forests provide habitat and food for marine life. Economically, they contribute to tourism, provide building materials, and serve as a livelihood source for fishermen.

Eman Suherman mentioned that DAHANA, in collaboration with the Subang Regency Government, the West Java Forestry Service, Pertamina, and other stakeholders, planted 24,000 mangroves in the Mayangan Village area, aiming to mitigate the impacts of climate change.

“Alhamdulillah, we thank everyone who contributed to the mangrove and wood planting event with the Subang Regent, which was carried out joyfully under the Subang Pantura sun. We hope this initiative will be a source of worship and blessings during the month of Ramadan,” Mr Suherman expressed.

The Mangrove and Wood Tree Planting Movement was attended by various officials, including members of the Legonkulon District Government, Legonkulon UPTDs, seven Village Heads from the region, the Pondok Putri Forest Farmer Group (FFG) of Legonwetan Village, the Mayangan Lestari FFG, the West Java Pantura Patrol Volunteers, Wanadri, the Nusantara Indah Environmental Foundation, the Rempong Women Association, and many community members.
