SUBANG – The Working Committee (Panja) of SOEs Defense Industry Commission I, Republic of Indonesia’s House of Representatives paid a Work Visit to PT DAHANA. The delegation led by Major General TNI., MAR. (Ret.) Sturman Panjaitan was warmly welcomed by the President Director of DAHANA, Wildan Widarman along with the board of directors of PT DAHANA and the Director of Operations of PT Len Industri (Persero) who represented Holding DEFEND ID at DAHANA’s Central Management Office, Subang, Thursday, April 6, 2023.

In his remarks Mr Widarman explained the brief history of PT DAHANA which originated from the ‘Menang’ Project and has continued to transform into a commercial corporate entity. He also conveyed that since 2012, Subang was chosen as new home for PT DAHANA. After moving to Subang, DAHANA’s business has accelerated in line with the construction of the Energetic Material Center which is listed as the most complete center for explosives in Southeast Asia.

“First, we would like to welcome the esteemed Board Members to PT DAHANA’s Campus (Central Management Office), the Qibla of Indonesian Explosives. PT DAHANA’s history as a pioneer in the explosives industry started with the Republic of Indonesia Air Force (AURI) project in 1966 known as the ‘Menang’ Project, located in Tasikmalaya, West Java,” Mr Widarman explained.

Mr Widarman added that during its journey, DAHANA became a member of the DEFEND ID Defense Industry Holding which was launched by President Joko Widodo on April 20, 2022 in Surabaya, in hoping  that SOE holding members will be increasingly consolidated, strengthening the Defense Industry ecosystem, meeting domestic needs, increasing the national content level,  entering the Global Supply Chain, being able to compete fairly and profitably with other Defense Industries in the world, and become a Top 50 Global Defense Company.

Meanwhile, Mr Panjaitan said that his commission at the House still has several deficiencies that need to be perfected, such as less effective commission regulations, limited access to high technology, weak synergy between stakeholders and limited funding.

“The goal of this working visit is to make strategic policies that are able to create a conducive climate for the development of the National Defense Industry, (strengthen) the performance of the SOEs holding for the defense industry for the benefit of the nation and state, and be able to compete, and build investment policies for the defense industry holding,” said Mr Panjaitan.

Apart from that, Mr Pajaitan wished that the defense industry could lower dependence on imported raw materials in order to be self-sufficient. He said that support means maintaining and improving performance on an ongoing basis both from a technical, financial and industrial development perspective by carrying out various efforts such as increasing cooperation contracts with the Government (Ministry of Defence).

As the host of the visit, Mr Widarman expressed his gratitude for the visit of the House’s commission to DAHANA. He hoped that the visit can have a significant impact on the challenges being faced by DEFEND ID, especially DAHANA, which is currently creating a national propellant industry to make sure it can create and present a strong, healthy and competitive defense industry.
