Subang, 13 June 2022. Following official inauguration by President Joko Widodo, DAHANA’s Elemented Detonator Factory succeeded in producing non-electric detonators; the products were widely used by many mining companies in the country. This was revealed at the event for Public Release of Elemented Detonator at DAHANA’s Energetic Material Center Area, in Subang on Monday, June 13, 2022.

Elemented Detonator is an explosive triggering device which consists of delay material to allow delay time adjustment, and high explosive power as the main stuffing. Indonesia, through DAHANA, officially owns the Elemented Detonator Factory which was signed by President Joko Widodo in conjunction with the launch of Holding DEFEND ID on April 20, 2022, in Surabaya.

President Director Wildan Widarman said that he is very grateful for DAHANA’s success in building the Elemented Detonator Factory which has produced Non-electric Detonators that have been used by mining companies in the country.

“Alhamdulillah, thanks to God Almighty; we have succeeded in building an elemented detonator factory  and can increase the Domestic Content Level (TKDN) by up to 50%. The ownership of this factory can also improve the national economy and reduce dependence on imported explosives,” said Mr Widarman.

The ownership of the DAHANA Elemented Detonator Factory was also welcomed by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) of the Republic of Indonesia. Coordinator of the Sub-Directorate of Mineral Business Supervision of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Indra Yuspiar said that his party is very concerned about reducing imports and increasing  the national content.

“DAHANA is currently capable of increasing the TKDN by up to 50%, which is a high and the largest figure. Therefore, we are ready to support DAHANA’s products to be used in all Indonesian mines,” said Mr Yuspiar.

The same thing was also expressed by the Director of Defense Industry Technology of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense Vice Marshall Ir. Wajariman, M.Sc. According to him, the presence of the Elemented Detonator Factory with a high national content is very good for the advancement of the domestic industry.

“We strongly support the increase in national content produced from DAHANA’s Elemented Detonator Factory. This is in line with our task in fostering the defense industry to develop domestic products,” said Mr Wajariman.

Hanwha Corporation President & CEO Maeng Yoon Kim in his speech was happy and expressed hie appreciation for the collaboration between Hanwha and DAHANA that had existed for approximately 10 years.

“Hopefully in the future we can establish other and better collaborations. We are also happy that Hanwha’s non-electric detonator technology is used in production in Indonesia,” said Mr Kim.

 

DAHANA’s elemented detonator factory is the first and only one in Indonesia. This factory has been constructed technological support from Korea’s Hanwha Corporation with a project value amounting of 200 billion in January 2019 and completed in December 2021. This factory can support DAHANA as the leading energetic material industry in the Asian region.

Apart from that, ownership of the Elemented Detonator Factory can also reduce imports and save foreign exchange by up to USD 6 million or an equivalent to 87 billion per year, as well as increase the value of technological mastery and independence of detonator explosives to meet domestic needs from 35% to 80%.

The Public Release event was also marked by cutting off the ‘tumpeng’ (cone-shaped yellow rice)  as a form of gratitude for the production of this Elemented Detonator Factory. In addition, the invitees also had the opportunity to join a Plant Tour and test the quality of Non-Electric Detonator products with very satisfying results.
