PT DAHANA (Persero) Community Development Programs invited one of its fostered partners engaged in the coffee business in the Jatiluhur Green Festival 2020 event. The products marketed at the event held from 19 t -20 December 2020 were coffee products cultivated in the area of Bukanagara, Subang. The Jatiluhur Green Festival 2020 event was officially opened on Saturday, 19 December 2020 and focused on three series of activities, namely Gowes Go Green, Nusantara Coffee Festival and Conservation Camp.
Dewi, the fostered partner, has more than seven years of experience of coffee cultivation by running coffee plantations in the Bukanagara area at Subang Regency.
“I name my coffee brand after Mr Hofland as a token of appreciation for Mr. Hofland who started growing coffee in Subang land. While running the coffee cultivation in Subang, he practiced friendly business and invited the local community to partner and be prosperous together, ”said Dewi.
After years and years of coffee bean business, now Hofland coffee started to get a lot of demands from outside the Subang area such as Bandung, Jogja, Semarang, Bogor, Bekasi and Jakarta. Even Hofland coffee has attracted overseas buyers.
“In 2020, Hofland coffee represented West Java to participate in specialty coffee festivals in Japan along with representatives from Toraja, Mandailing, Gayo and Bali. This exhibition has been held 8 times and this times it hosted participants from 20 different countries. This year West Java was represented by Subang coffee. Thanks God, from we got a buyer, with a purchase order of 16 tons of exports to Japan, “continued Dewi.
Dewi further said that Subang Regency, to be precise the South Subang section which is characterized by plateau land contour indeed suitable for coffee plant cultivation. Coffee in Subang has been existing for decades. In the past, Robusta coffee was widely cultivated, at an altitude of 500-700 meters above the sea level. Arabica coffee has only been re-cultivated in the last 5 years in the area of Bukanagara and Ciater which have the altitude of 1000 meters above sea level. Arabica coffee must be planted at above 1000 meters above the sea level to get high quality taste. In addition, at this altitude there are far fewer challenges in coffee cultivation, such as pests.
When met during the 2020 Jatiluhur Green Festival, DAHANA’s Community Development Program’s head, Eman Suherman stated that the program would be consistent in helping to develop its partners especially during the current Covid-19 pandemic.
“DAHANA will always support its fostered partners to make sure they develop to the next level, and grow in many ways. Apart from soft loans as additional capital, DAHANA also provides several facilities to its fostered partners in the form of involvement as participants in festivals, exhibitions, and training for foster partners. This way we will be more competent and can compete in the international market, “said Eman. (rmt)
