Lebak, March 7, 2022 – The Social and Environment Responsibility Team for Defense Industry SOE’s or known as Defend ID, handed over educational aid to the people of Banten. The symbolic handover ceremony was carried out at two points, namely Public Elementary School 1 Pasar Keong, Cibadak District, and State Elementary School 1 Cimarga, Cimarga District, Lebak Regency on Monday, March 7 2022.
Senior CSR Officer of PT Len Industri (Persero) Yudha Ryantono and the Defend ID Social and Environmental Responsibility Team (SERT) said that the education assistance program is a joint commitment of the SOEs’ Defense Industry SERT working in collaboration to help educate the nation’s life, and the implementation of CSR with an objective Sustainable Development/SDGs perspective.
“We hope that this assistance can ease the burden of students’ parents and can encourage students to be more active in learning. Defend ID is committed to advancing national education with the capacity we have,” said Mr Ryantono.
Lebak Regency is one of the regencies with a high poverty rate. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency, 120.83 thousand people are categorized as poor in 2020. This was worsened by the floods and landslides affecting area, and the Covid-19 pandemic.
A total of 650 school uniforms from Defend ID were distributed to several points in Banten. One of the representatives of the recipients, who is the manager of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al Ittihad, Supriyadi, said that he was very grateful for the assistance of school uniforms for their students.
“We pray that the Indonesian Defense Industry SOEs will continue to advance, progress and get blessed,” he said.
Defend ID is a Defense Industry SOEs Holding consisting of PT Len Industri (Persero) as the holding company, with members PT PINDAD, PT PAL Indonesia, PT Dirgantara Indonesia and PT DAHANA. Following the signing of the Capital Authorization Deed last week, Defend ID has the mandate to meet the needs of the main Weapon System Equipment (Alutsista) and the National Defense and Security Equipment Tools (Alpalhankam).
The government has targeted the Indonesian Defense Industry to be included in the Top Global 50 Defense Companies, and therefore that will strengthen Indonesia’s bargaining position in the eyes of the international community, realize the independence of defense equipment, and improve the national economy after the Covid-19 pandemic.
