To help ease the burden on flood casualties, the Social and Environmental Responsibility Unit (TJSL) of PT DAHANA (Persero) provided charitable 50 basic food packages to affected residents in  Sepaso Timur, Bengalon, East Kalimantan, Wednesday, December 22, 2021.

 

Representative of PT DAHANA (Persero) in East Kalimantan, Jeni Miftah said the aid is a form of DAHANA’s concern as a state-owned company engaged in the explosives industry on disaster casualties. He also hopes that the community can recover from the current situation.

 

“We also pray the flood will recede soon and the community will recover and return to their normal activities,” said Mr Miftah.

 

Mr Miftah added that he will always try to be present to the people affected by the disaster, especially those at DAHANA’s work sites, either in Subang, or at sites where DAHANA operates. This is a form of the company’s commitment to moving forward with the surrounding community.

 

By the end of 2021, rain continued to fall in the Sepaso Timur area, which caused the Lembak River to overflow and inundate several villages in Bengalon District. The water level was increasing day by day, especially in the Neighborhood 1 area of Sepaso Timur village drowned the residents’ housing has been badly inundated.

 

The flood has also disrupted the activities of the residents and inundated roads in Bengalon for several days making it impossible for the residents to get access to the road which in turn hampered the local economy. Sepaso has almost become an isolated village. The local government has built refugee posts at several points.

 

According to the Sepaso sub-district head, Suharman Cono, the flooding in his area has inundated 7 villages affecting  300 households in Sepaso Selatan, 300 in Sepaso Timur, 250 in Tepian Langsat, 800 in Sepaso Induk, 155 in West Sepaso,  121 in Tepian Indah/Tepian Raya, and 75 in Tepian Baru 74 KK.
