PT DAHANA took part in the movement of cleaning secondary water channels in urban areas which was organized by the Subang Regency Environmental Service to commemorate World Rivers Day 2023. The event, which was opened by the Regent of Subang H. Ruhimat, was held on Friday, October 13, 2023.
The man popularly known as Kang Jimat emphasized the importance of awareness to protect the environment. He also appreciated the work initiated by the Environmental Service together with Regional Leaders Forum, SOEs, Regional-owned Enterprises, the private sector, as well as river lover activists. He also hoped that this joint action can become a regular activity, not just a mere ceremonial commemoration.
“I thank everyone who is again initiating to foster the sense of responsibility. As we all know, if there is no awareness regarding the environment, what will happen? Now with regards to this, hopefully this is not just ceremonial, the most important thing I want is the awareness of how important it is for us to care for the environment,” said Mr Ruhimat.
Meanwhile, the Chair of PT DAHANA’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (SER) unit, Eman Suherman, also appreciated the Environmental Service program. The river clean-up action carries the same spirit as the Company’s commitment to facing the climate crisis.
PT DAHANA’s involvement in this action is also a form of concern for maintaining the cleanliness and beauty of the river, in hoping that the river ecosystem can run well, and ultimately will bring benefits to the community at large, especially those living around the river area.
“Participation in river day activities is an implementation of the SDGS environmental pillar. This activity is an outreach to increase public awareness that dumping rubbish into rivers is not a good thing. “Hopefully, by piloting this joint activity, we can ignite collective awareness that protecting and caring for rivers is a good and important thing to maintain human survival,” said Mr Suherman.
