PT DAHANA once again provided assistance with fogging or fumigation against Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) mosquitoes for the people of Subang in order to realize the “Healthy Village” program and prevent the spread of the dengue mosquito. This time, fogging was given in RW 04 and RW 05 Dukuh Hamlet, Sadawarna Village, Cibogo District, Subang Regency, West Java, on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.
Head of PT DAHANA’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (SERL) unit, Eman Suherman, said that the Company was escorted by the Head of Dukuh Hamlet, Yosep Hendrawan, along with the Heads of RW 04 Sudarmanto and RW 05 Oman, combing locations that had the potential to become mosquito nests.
“During the fogging activity, we were accompanied by the head of the local officials so that the fogging process could be carried out effectively in places that have the potential to become nests for the Aedes aegypti mosquito. Hopefully with this assistance, dengue fever cases in Subang can be suppressed, so that more lives can be saved,” said Mr Suherman.
The Subang District Health Service released that there were 1,357 cases of dengue fever that took lives of 22 people from January to May 2024. Head of the Prevention and Control of Diseases (P2P) Division of the Subang Health Service, dr. Indriawati said that solving the dengue problem cannot rely on the Health Service but requires the active participation of all parties.
Mr Suherman added that the fogging given by DAHANA was not only meant to eradicate the Aedes aegypti mosquito; it is also a part of campaign for increasing the awareness in the community around the company about the dangers of dengue fever, and steps to deal with it, such as by carrying out 3M (burying, draining and covering used goods).
“We also hope that with fogging, people will become more aware of living a healthy life, such as by doing 3M, namely burying, draining and covering used goods. Public awareness is the main weapon in eradicating dengue mosquitoes,” concluded Mr Suherman.
Previously, on May 7, 2024, DAHANA gave fogging in the Cikareo Hamlet area. After carrying out fogging in Dukuh Hamlet, PT DAHANA’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (SER) team will continue fogging in Sadawarna Hamlet, Sadawarna Village, Subang Regency.
