PT DAHANA (Persero)’s community development program through its Community Partnership and Development Program continues to roll. The partnership program is a program that is delivered in the form of supply of loans to community types of SMEs.

According to Eman Suherman, Chairperson of PT DAHANA (Persero)’s Community Partnership and Development Program where MSME entrepreneurs or independent small entrepreneurs cooperate to become fostered partners and given assistance in the form of soft loans.

“To be eligible for becoming a fostered partner, a business must be in operation for at least six months with a turnover of the MSME category. The amount of loan is be adjusted to their ability to repay as to prevent the loan from burdening the enterprise,” Eman Suherman.

Hernawan, one of the wood sculpture carving craftsmen who has joined DAHANA’s fostered partners, said that his business could grow even more since joining DAHANA’s fostered partners program.

“Thank God, my business has grown after becoming a foster partner in DAHANA as the program helped a lot in terms of capital,” Hernawan said.

Hernawan started a woodcarving sculpture business in 2008. His products include wooden statues, puppets, ashtrays and other carving work made to order. Within a month, Hernawan can produce 3,000 small sized sculptures with a turnover of Rp. 12,000,000 to Rp.15,000,000 per month with 40% profit.

In addition to marketing his handicrafts to permanent customers from Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Bali, Hernawan also markets his handicraft products online and even exports to Iran and Taiwan.

What is unique about Hernawan’s carving handicraft products is the fact that all the manufacturing processes are done manually and traditionally out of raw materials to finished products. He employs eight workers.
