In response to the national demand on elemented detonators, PT DAHANA (Persero) started collaboration with Hanwha Corporation, by signing of Agreement on Procurement of Elemented Detonator Equipment. The agreement was jointly signed by PT DAHANA (Persero)’s President Director Budi Antono dan Head of International Business Hanwha Woon Seon Lee in South Korea on 19 October 2018.

PT DAHANA (Persero) again proved the theme of DAHANA’s 52nd Anniversary ‘Jumping Higher” with efforts that go beyond its capacity. After declaration of the plan for construction of ammonium nitrate manufacturing plant in Bontang, official opening of Nitro-glycerine (NG) manufacturing plant in Subang, DAHANA jumped higher up to end of 2018 with the plan for construction of elemented detonator manufacturing plant.

In line with the regulator’s policies with regards to development of domestic production of explosives by means of limitation in import quota, DAHANA grabbed the chance for production of domestic producer of non-electric detonator apart from PT MNK in order to improve sales by means of improvement o added value..

“Previously DAHANA has been procuring elemented detonators by means of importing from Hanwha. The chance for import limitation is brought to maximum by DAHANA as the first domestic producer of Non Electric Detonator,” said Heri Heriswan, PT DAHANA (Persero)’s Director of Technology and Development.

Elemented detonator is the raw material for non-electric detonator. Elemented detonator consists of blasting cap and delay element. Delay element is the key to the making of both electric detonator and non-electric. Construction of electric detonator manufacturing plant comes in two construction phases, namely construction of blasting cap manufacturing plant to be done at the end of 2018, and the second phase for delay element. The entire manufacturing plant is expected to be ready for full operation in three years.
Hanwa was selected as technology provider for the elemented detonator manufacturing plant with an investment value of USD 13.62 million. In addition, Hanwha will also supply raw material for manufacturing elemented detonator, as specified in the raw material supply agreement which will guaranteed DAHANA with continuous supply of quality raw material that meets the manufacture’s specification..

The elemented detonator manufacturing plant will be constructed within the PT DAHANA (Persero)’s Energetic Material Center (EMC) in Subang, West Java. The plant will have the production capacity of up to 8 million pieces of elemented detonator per year per shift.
