Bandung – The millennial generation Holding DEFEND ID SOEs (State-owned Enterprises) Holding (Young Defend) held a Millennials Gathering with the Ministry of SOEs under the name of “First to Fire”. The Young Defend’s initial large-scale activity, attended by Special Staff III of the Minister of SOEs Arya Sinulingga and the directors of DEFEND ID members, was held at Grha Pindad, Bandung on Thursday, 24 November 2022.
Mr Sinulingga, who was asked to join the sharing session, appreciated Young Defend’s steps. He also challenged the members of Young Defense to show their best performance at work.
“We at the Ministry of SOEs really support the leadership of the millennial generation in SOEs, as currently there are 5% of the BoD (Board of Directors) position is taken by millennials with a target of 10% succession in the coming years, so that the future composition of the SOEs board of directors will be filled by the millennial generation,” said Mr Sinulingga.
Mr Sinulingga added that under the leadership of Minister Erick Thohir, the Ministry of SOEs has undertaken various structural transformation steps, ranging aligning core values to forcing SOEs with interrelated business lines to becoming holding companies.
The existence of this holding makes it easier for the Ministry of SOEs to monitor state-owned companies. At least, according to Mr Sinulingga, currently the meeting between the SOEs BoD and the Ministry can be held once a month, or at least once every two months. He also believed that SOEs transformation process will be carried out more quickly.
Meanwhile, the Head of Young Defend, Rusyadie Azhar Harahap said that the millennial generation in all DEFEND ID companies occupies the highest portion, reaching over 60%. This is expected to be the main driver of holding DEFEND ID in achieving the Top Global 50 Defense Company target.
“Thank you to the colleagues for attending this meeting. Now we officially have a millennial forum together called Young Defend. In the future we hope to be able to hold similar event, for example, touring with PTDI planes or Harimau Pindad,” said Mr Harahap.
DEFEND ID is a SOEs Defense Industry holding which was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on April 22, 2022. It is chaired by PT Len Industri (Persero) with PT DAHANA, PT PINDAD, PT Dirgantara Indonesia, and PT PAL Indonesia as member. DEFEND ID is tasked with realization of the independence of national defense equipment, increasing the value of TKDN (domestic level of content), becoming a player in the global supply chain, and becoming a Top Global 50 Defense Company.
