Kuala Lumpur – The Indonesian Defense SOEs Holding (DEFEND ID) is present at the 17th Defense Services Asia (DSA) and National Security Asia (NATSEC ASIA) Exhibition 2022 held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 28 to 31 March 2022. In addition to the exhibition , there were also several signings of agreements between Defense Industry SOEs and global partners witnessed by the Indonesian Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto.

 

The exhibition which held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Center (MITEC) Kuala Lumpur is the largest defense industry exhibition in Asia Pacific. DEFEND ID is part of the Indonesia Defense Industries booth led by the Indonesian Ministry of Defense, which consists of 12 companies from Indonesia.

 

According to DAHANA’s Director of Technology and Development, Suhendra Yusuf RPN, who represents DEFEND ID delegation at the exhibition, said that DEFEND ID’s participation in this exhibition is a strategic step for the holding to market the products of the homeland defense industry in the global market.

 

“Apart from that, DEFEND ID’s participation in this exhibition is a holding effort to achieve one of its goals, namely to become a Top Global 50 Defense Company. During this event there are also several signings of business cooperation with various parties,” said Mr Yusuf.

 

Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto witnessed the signing of the MoU between PT Pindad and the Malaysian Armed Forces Savings Institute (LTAT), which was jointly signed by PT Pindad President Director Abraham Mose and LTAT Chief Executive Dato’ Ahmad Nazim Abd Rahman on the first day of the exhibition, 28 March 2022.

 

Meanwhile, President Director of PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI), Gita Amperiawan handed over the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) of the CN235-220 Military Transport aircraft belonging to the Royal Malaysian Air Force (TUDM) which was converted to CN235-220 Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) by PTDI  under the Maritime Security Initiative (MSI) program to the Air Force Commander (PTU) TUDM, General Dato Sri Mohd Asgjar Khan bin Goriman Khan. The handover of the STC took place at the Indonesia Defense Industries booth witnessed by the Director General of Defense Potential of the Republic of Indonesia, Army Major General Dadang Handrayudha.

 

The DSA 2022 exhibition showcases the latest developments in defense technology, systems, hardware and electronic warfare systems that the defense industry has to offer. The exhibition is supported and co-organized by the Malaysian Ministry of Defense and several related ministries, with a target of 1,170 participants from the Defense Industry, and 40,000 visitors.

 

This huge event is the first exhibition that DEFEND ID has participated in as a holding which was just inaugurated by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises of the Republic of Indonesia some time ago. DEFEND ID is a defense holding company consisting of PT Len Industri (Persero) as the parent, with Pindad, Pal Indonesia, PT Dirgantara Indonesia and Dahana as members.

 

The existence of DEFEND ID is expected to accelerate the process of independence of the Main Weapon System Equipment (Alutsista) and the National Defense and Security Equipment Tool (Alpalhankam). Apart from that, the establishment of the holding also leads to opportunities for bargaining positions in industrial cooperation as is currently taking place in Malaysia.

 

On the occasion, each Defend ID company showcased its products and innovations at the Indonesia Defense Industries booth, such as the appearance of mock ups of the ISS and CMS Mandala by Len, mock-up of the Rhino and Tiger Medium Tank Combat Vehicles by PINDAD, mock-up of the CN-235 Model Aircraft.by PTDI, miniature LPD ships by PAL, as well as explosives and P Series Bombs by DAHANA.
