For better synergy of industrial and academic world, especially in term of strategic industry, Universitas Pertahanan Indonesia (UNHAN, University of  Defense Indonesia) ties collaboration with PT DAHANA (Persero), a state-owned enterprise producing military and commercial explosives. 

Memorandum of Understanding between University of Defense Indonesia with PT DAHANA (Persero) was signed in Dahana Campus on September 12, 2016 by the university’s rector I Wayan Midhio, M.Phil. and PT DAHANA (Persero)’s President Director Budi Antono, meanwhile the Cooperation Agreement was signed by the university’s Community Service Office Chief Dr. Ir. Supartono, M.M and PT DAHANA (Persero)’s Finance Director Susilo Hartono. 

I Wayan pointed out that the collaboration with Dahana has been the part of the university’s future plan in connection with establishment of National Defense Faculty. Currently, the university’s postgraduate school, established in 2009, has two faculties with 14 study programs. 

“In accordance with the advice of  Ministry of Research and High Education, we are required to establish a new faculty, namely the Defense Technology in support to related Indonesia’s human resources,” explained I Wayan in his speech. 

I Wayan also stated that, as a provider of scholarship program, the university is ready to admit PT DAHANA (Persero)’s staff members or employees for masters studies. Facilities to be given in the scholarship scheme include free tuition fee, pocket money, housing and meals; and domestic and overseas field studies as to get the students introduces to different regions in all provinces of Indonesia. 

Meanwhile, Budi Antono, President Director of PT DAHANA (Persero) states that the university’s team’s visit to DAHANA has motivated Dahana’s employees and staff to improve the company’s human resources development.

“We welcome the offer; it is a good opportunity for DAHANA to get its human resources developed.” Said Budi Antono.

In addition to the education collaboration, the university’s cooperation with DAHANA also facilitates the university’s lecturers and students for researchers in DAHANA. The company at the moment is equipped with the Energetic Material Center (EMC) which is capable of developing and manufacturing both military and commercial explosives for both domestic and overseas consumption.
