On Tuesday, May 15, DAHANA Campus in Subang welcomed The Study Team of President Advisory Board Presiden (Wantimpres). The team serves as compilers of study text working under the section of Defense and Security of the President Advisory Board.
The team is now in the process of formulating a study on optimizing of independence procurement and maintenance of the major equipment of defense system. The team received a warm welcome from PT DAHANA (Persero)’s President Director Budi Antono and Director of Technology and Development Heri Heriswan.
Heri Heriswan, as the Director of Technology and Development said that the independence of major equipment of defense system started as early as explosive independence.
He described the given dependent condition in which, among others, propellant for missiles or rockets are still imported. “The number of imported propellants explains the size of bullets we have,” he said.
“Our goal is to get full independence in term of explosive manufacture. We are aware of the fact that we depend on other countries for some raw material. We are not fully independent; we have the resources yet no such industry is available,” explained Heri Heriswan.
“We are focusing on grabbing this ideal, making DAHANA as qibla for explosives,” he said
In order to realize the explosive production independence, DAHANA constructed an integrated zone called Energetic Material Center (EMC) at the Subang Regency. di Kabupaten Subang. The center, with an area of 600 hectare, considered to be the biggest of its kind in South East Asia, is the home for research and development facilities and explosive production. (SYA)
