In order to welcome the 38th Bhakti Rimbawan Day, PT DAHANA (Persero) carried out reforestation activities by planting hundreds of kamper (cinnamomum camphora) seedlings in Serang Panjang Sub-district, Subang Regency on Wednesday, March 31, 2021. This reforestation activity was in collaboration with the West Java Provincial Forestry Service.

“This reforestation is a form of DAHANA’s concern in view of environmental preservation, especially in Subang Regency. The activity is adjusted to the theme of the 38th Forestry Service Day in 2021, namely Greening Our Earth Together,” said Eman Suherman, Head of DAHANA’s Social and Environmental Responsibility.

The plant seeds originated from DAHANA’s Nursery Unit. The Nursery Unit serves as a vegetation seed ‘factory’ to fulfill DAHANA’s environmental needs. With an area of about two hectares, the Nursery Unit operates a nursery and a temporary growing station to allow necessary adaptation prior to planting in natural conditions. In this nursery, there are several facilities for seeding such as a Seedling House and a place for laying polybags.

The Nursery Unit provides nurseries for a wide variety of plants such as perennials and timber including rare timber trees such as sandalwood, agarwood, Bombay blackwood,   flamboyant, tamarind and buddhi, as well as nurseries of ornamental plants and/or fruit trees.

One of DAHANA’s Community Development programs is conservation of nature and the environment in the form of reforestation, renewable energy and watersheds. According to Eman, these programs are sustainable which have a real impact on the local community. One of them is undertaken by implementing a biogas production program with the community at the cattle farm cluster in Subang Regency.

“So far, cow dung has been only considered as livestock waste. We are trying to process cow dung into renewable energy in the form of biogas which can be used for daily cooking needs,” explained Eman.

Apart from the Community Development Program, the Partnership Program, which provides business capital loans for MSMEs assisted by DAHANA, also continues to be rolled out. This Partnership Program does not only provide capital to MSME players, but also helps fostered MSME players to market their products, both at the local level and international market.
