PT DAHANA (Persero) through the Quarry & Construction Division (DKK) carried out first blasting on construction blasting activities in preparing land for the 2×50 MW North Sulawesi-3 PLTU Project, Kema I Village, North Minahasa, North Sulawesi on November 28, 2018.

Before the first blasting activity began, pigs and chicken slaughtering of was carried out around the site as a tribute to the local wisdom of the local community. Animal slaughter was also carried out with the aim of asking permission from the ancestors who lived around the first blasting site. This custom program was also carried out with joint prayer according to the teachings of Islam and Christianity.

The tradition of slaughter is a tradition that has long been adhered to by the North Minahasa people, starting from the tradition of offering all the results taken from the ground to Opo (the Gods), as well as to establish kinship between North Minahasa residents.

Overall, all parties appreciated the first blasting done by DAHANA, both the fragmentation of blasting material and safety and security aspects that went according to plan.

The day before the implementation of first blasting, Sinihydro Corporation Limited held a simulation (rehearsal) of coordination, evacuation and security of the implementation of blasting activities.

“This simulation activity aims to ensure that nothing is out of control in the implementation of blasting,” said Yondra as the Operation Superintendent of the Division of Construction Quarries.

The first blasting program was also attended by Project Managers and the officials of PT Minahasa Cahaya Lestari as Owner Project, Project Manager and officials of Sinohydro Corporation Limited as Main Contractor, BVI team in association with Jaya CM as Engineering and Construction Supervision, along with Hukum Tua (Village Chief), religious leaders, community leaders, and the police.
